Eugene (Gene) Cowan, 65, Adair County, KY (1951-2017)

He was widely known and highly respected for his knowledge and integrity. He loved his church and was a long time member of Charity Baptist Church where he served as a deacon He worked for Charles Giles for 43 years, beginning in 1967 at G & G Motors in tractor sales. He worked six years for Hobdy, Dye & Read in Columbia and retired on July 31, 2016. He was owner of Cowan Farming & Shop. He pursued farming and his personal farm equipment sales. He was an avid farm equipment auction attender. He was the son of the late Ira & Pearsetta Burton Cowan. His wife, Carol Polston Cowan, survives. He leaves four direct living descendants.

Eugene "Gene" Cowan age 65 years of Columbia, Ky. passed away Tuesday April 11, 2017 at 12:41pmCT, at his home.

Funeral service Friday, April 14, 2017 at 11amCT at Charity Baptist Church, 4072 Holmes Bend Road, Columbia, KY. Clergy officiating will be Bro. David Karnes, Bro. Jim Hagan & George Rice Interment will be in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 4pmCT, Thursday, April 13,2017 & after 6amCT Friday until 10amCT at the funeral home, and after 10:30amCT, Friday, at the church.



Eugene (Gene) Cowan, 65, Adair County, KY (1951-2017)


He was born on May 4, 1951 in Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late Ira & Pearsetta Burton Cowan. He died Tuesday, April 11, 2017, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 65 years, 11 months, and seven days.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Charlene Cowan, and two infant brothers Kenneth and Harold Cowan; and a daughter-in-law, Lisa Renee Cowan on September 23, 2016.

He is survived by:
  • His wife: Carol Polston Cowan of Columbia, KY

  • One son: Timothy "Tim" Gene Cowan of Columbia, KY

  • One brother: Winfred Cowan of Columbia, KY

  • Three grandchildren: Jacob Stewart Cowan, Timothy "Blake" Cowan, and Karli Morgan Cowan

  • Nieces, nephew, a host of other relatives & friends.
