Joe Allen Moore, 78, Adair County, KY (1938-2017)

He was a great Adair Countian. He was one of the most beloved, significant figures of his day. His quiet, understated humor, his kindness, his dedication, to the the City of Columbia and love of Adair County was sincere and boundless. He had served on the Columbia City Council for several terms, and carried on unselfish community service whether in office or not. The very symbol of the community, the historic clocktower drawing, the community's brand, came from his hand, a credit few may remember. He was an electrical contractor for over 40 years with Allen Moore & Son Electrical Contractors. He was a tradesman with few peers. He was the son of the late Allen Nell & Evelyn Montgomery Moore. His wife, Marlene Kell Moore, survives. He leaves five direct living descendants to carry on his legacy.
