William Conrad Claycomb, Sr., Taylor Co., KY (1924-2017)

Conrad was a veteran of World War II, having served his country honorably in the United States Army. He was also a German prisoner of war in World War II for nine months from 1944-1945. He will be accorded full military honors by the Marion County Honor Guard at committal rites. He was a member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was a retired employee of TGT and retired after 38 years of service. He was a life-long member of Pitman Masonic Lodge #124 F & AM. He was the widower of Dorothy Sexton Claycomb, his wife of 67 years. He leaves 12 direct living descendants spanning four generations.

William Conrad Claycomb, Sr., 92, Campbellsville, KY, died at 7:45pmET, Monday, March 27, 2017 in Wilmore, KY.

The funeral service will be at 10amCT/11amET, Friday, March 31, 2017 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon Avenue, Campbellsville, KY, by Rev. John Butler and Rev. Robert Knight. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, 200 Block W. Main Street, Campbellsville, KY, will full military honors by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation is 4pm-7pmCT/5pm-8pmET, Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home.

William Conrad Claycomb, Sr. of Campbellsville, was the son of the late Herbert C. Claycomb and Nellie Russell Claycomb. He was born on June 16, 1924, in Taylor County, KY. He died Monday, March 27, 2017 in Wilmore, Jessamine County, KY, at the age of 92 years, nine months, and 11 days. He professed faith in Christ and was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Conrad was a veteran of World War II, having served his country honorably in the United States Army. He was also a German prisoner of war in World War II for nine months from 1944-1945.

He was a retired employee of TGT and retired after thirty-eight years of service and was a life-long member of Pitman Masonic Lodge #124 F & AM.

He united in marriage to Dorothy Sexton September 17, 1943 and she preceded him in death on May 31, 2011.

He is survived by:
  • Three sons and one daughter: Thomas A. Claycomb and wife, Darlene and Jackie Claycomb and wife, Ruth of Harrodsburg, KY; Billy Claycomb of Campbellsville, KY; and Connie Jo Wright and husband, Bill of Greensburg, KY

  • Four grandsons: Ricky Claycomb and wife, Lisa of Campbellsville, KY; Troy Wright and wife, Elizabeth of Greensburg, KY; Scott Claycomb and wife, Heather of Lexington, KY; and Jeff Claycomb and wife, Crimson of Harrodsburg, KY

  • Four great-granddaughters

  • One great-great-grandson

  • Many other relatives and friends
Conrad was also preceded in death by a daughter, Peggy Diane Claycomb in infancy and a sister, Maxine Jewell Claycomb in infancy.
