He died Monday, March 20, 2017, in Burkesville, Cumberland County, KY, at the age of 84 years, 10 months, and five days. He retired from Houchens Industries with over 30 years of service, and later retired from Newcomb Oil Company. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Griffin Thomas, and his siblings, Walter Thomas, Basil Thomas, and Susie Philpott. Survivors include:
