Mr. Thomas Ed Handy, 91, Greensburg, KY (1925-2017)

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a lifelong member and trustee of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. He was a United States Army Veteran, serving during World War II. He was a member of the James L. Pruitt Post 5813 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Greensburg, KY. He was a dedicated husband and father. He was a Kentucky Farm Bureau Director.

Mr. Thomas Ed Handy passed away on Monday, March 13, 2017 at Green Hill Nursing and Rehab in Greensburg, at the age of 91.

Visitation will be from 4pmCT until 8pmCT on Wednesday at Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home, 209 W Court St, Greensburg, KY, and then from 8amCT until the funeral hour on Thursday, March 16, 2017, at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, 30 Buford Dial, Greensburg, KY. The funeral service will be at 11amCT on Thursday, March 16, 2017, at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church.

Ministers Bro. Keith Clements and Bro. Jason Shirrell will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. Gilead Cemetery.

Mr. Thomas Ed Handy, 91, Greensburg, KY (1925-2017)

Mr. Thomas Ed Handy was born October 28, 1925 in Green County, KY. He was the son of the late Herbert Lewis Handy and Sally Edna Hayes Handy. He departed this life Monday, March 13, 2017 at Green Hill Nursing and Rehab in Greensburg, Green County, KY, having attained the age of 91 years, four months and 15 days.

Ed had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a lifelong member and trustee of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. He was a United States Army Veteran, serving during World War II. He was a member of the James L. Pruitt Post 5813 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Greensburg, KY. He was a dedicated husband and father. He was a Kentucky Farm Bureau Director. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother: Homer Handy and one sister: Virginia Tutt.

He is survived by his wife Margaret, And the following:
  • One son and daughter-in-law: Larry and Ada Mae Handy, Greensburg, KY

  • Two daughters and sons-in-law: Pam and Danny Burriss and Tammy and Keith Clements, all of Greensburg, KY

  • Four brothers and sisters-in-law: Bill and May Handy, Rex and Pat Handy of Greensburg, KY; and Harold and Marlene Handy and Benny and Reba Handy of Louisville, KY

  • Two sisters and one brother-in-law: Opal Tutt of Campbellsville, KY; and Wilma and Bobby Landis of Greensburg, KY

  • Six grandchildren: Brian and Christy Burriss, Cathy and Alan Froggett, Laura Handy and Adrian Starks, Stacy Matney, Rachel and Austin Osborne and Keeton Clements

  • Eleven great grandchildren: Slade Burriss, Adriauna Handy, Layke Burriss, D'Ante Starks, Mason Froggett, Allie Burriss, Laurian Starks, Dane Burriss, Raelyn Matney, Miles Osborne, Daylee Burriss

  • One great-great grandchild: Easton Surratt

  • plus a host of other relatives and friends.
The family has requested that expressions of sympathy be donations to Hosparus of Green River, Green County Library or Gideons International. These can be made at the funeral home or church.
