Gwendolyn Whitley, formerly of Taylor Co., KY; Green Co. native (1940-2017)

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of New Hope Community Church in Elizabethtown, KY. Traveling was always a favorite pastime for Gwendolyn, as was enjoying good music. Most of her joy came from her family; she loved to spend time with them. She truly took delight in the happiness of others, especially her family and closest friends. She was the daughter of the late Kelly & Pauline Whitlock Kelly. Her husband of 54 years, Donald Whitley, survives. She leaves six direct and two step living descendants.

Gwendolyn Whitley, 77, of Elizabethtown, KY, formerly of Campbellsville, KY, died at 11:59pmET, Monday, March 12, 2017, in Elizabethtown, KY.

The funeral service will be at 10amCT/11amET, Thursday, March 16, 2017 at the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon Avenue, Campbellsville, KY, by Pastor Herb Williams, Pastor Philip Quisenberry and Paula Quisenberry. Burial will be in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens, 700 Old U.S. 68, Campbellsville, KY. Visitation will be 4pm-7pmCT/5pm-8pmET, Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville,KY.

She was born March 3, 1940, in Green County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Earl Kelly & Pauline Whitlock Kelly. She died Monday, March 12, 2017, in Elizabethtown, Hardin County, KY, at the age of 77 years, nine days.

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of New Hope Community Church in Elizabethtown.

Traveling was always a favorite pastime for Gwendolyn, as was enjoying good music. Most of her joy came from her family; she loved to spend time with them. She truly took delight in the happiness of others, especially her family and closest friends.

Gwendolyn united in marriage to Donald Whitley on December 2, 1962.

Besides her husband of 54 years, she is survived by:
  • Two sons: Marcus Whitley and wife, Stacey of Leitchfield, KY; and Donnie Whitley of Elizabethtown, KY

  • Two grandchildren: Sydne Hope Whitley of Leitchfield, KY; and Landon Whitley of Elizabethtown, KY

  • Two step-grandchildren: Ethan Hinson and wife, Nicole of Brownsville, KY; and Ian Hinson and wife, Destiny of Lebanon, TN

  • Two great-grandchildren: Aubrey Hinson of Brownsville, KY; and Ahliana Hinson of Lebanon, TN

  • Two brothers: Joe Kelly and wife, Ruth of Harrodsburg, KY; and Lilburn Kelly and wife, Inez of Greensburg, KY

  • Several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
