John B. McKinney, 77, Scottsville, KY (1939-2017)

He was a successful businessman with Curtis 1000, starting in Louisville, KY, with the company, and later, in Atlanta, GA, before retiring to Allen Co., KY. His wife, Sharon Pickett Gooden McKinney, survives. He leaves four direct and five step descendants. His final resting place will be in Adair County, KY.

John B. McKinney, 77, of Scottsville, KY, died Sunday, February 5, 2017 at 9:50pmCT, at his home.

Graveside service will be Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at 2pmCT, in the Columbia Cemetery, 315 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Rev. Steve Pescosolido officiating. Burial to follow. There will be no public visitation.



John B. McKinney, Scottsville, KY (1939-2017)

He was born April 18, 1939, in Muhlenberg County, KY. He was the son of the late Carl and Mary Wilson McKinney. He died Sunday, February 5, 2017, in Scottsville, Allen County, KY, at the age of 77 years, nine months, and 18 days.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 14 brothers and sisters.

He moved to Louisville, KY, and was a successful businessman with Curtis 1000, Inc. Upon promotion, he was transferred to Atlanta, Georgia in 1974, where he lived until he retired in 1997.

In 1987, John married Sharon Pickett Gooden. John loved KY and returned to Scottsville, KY upon his retirement. He loved his wife and sons and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include:
  • His wife: Sharon Pickett McKinney of Scottsville, KY

  • Two sons: Jim and Curt McKinney both of Georgia

  • Two step-children: Myles Pogue and Jessica Kriz of Louisville,, KY

  • One brother: Paul McKinney of Drakesboro, KY

  • Two grandchildren: Joshua and Emily McKinney

  • Three step-grandchildren: Chase, Camron and Connor Kriz
