He was an 8th Grade student at Cumberland County Middle School, where he excelled in his classes. He was involved in the Cumberland County Marching Band, and also loved playing piano. Nicholas Claywell, age 13, of Burkesville, KY passed away on Monday, January 16, 2017 at his home.

Funeral service will be Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 10amCT, at the Cumberland County Middle School Gymnasium, 908 N Main Street Burkesville, KY 42717, with Dr. Mark Shelton and Bro. Tim Parson officiating.

The family requests visitation after 4pmCT Friday, January 20, 2017 until 7:30amCT, Saturday all at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, 304 N Main Street, Burkesville, KY, and from 8amCT, on Saturday until the service time at 10amCT, at the Cumberland County Middle Gymnasium. Cremation will follow the services.

Nicholas was born on February 21, 2003 in Glasgow, Barren County, KY to Shannon and Crystal Poppino Claywell. He died Monday, January 16, 2017, in Burkesville, Cumberland County, KY, at the age of 13 years, 10 months, and 26 days. He was an 8th Grade student at Cumberland County Middle School, where he excelled in his classes. He was involved in the Cumberland County Marching Band, and also loved playing piano. He enjoyed being involved in the community with E.R. Ministries and was a member of Burkesville Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, John Poppino and Russell Claywell.

Survivors include:
  • His parents: Shannon and Crystal Claywell of Burkesville, KY

  • Four siblings: Britney Nichole Halstead and her husband Derrick of Princeton, WV; Alex Claywell of Louisville, KY; Tori McKenzie Claywell of Burkesville, KY; and Isaiah Matthew Claywel of Burkesville, KY

  • His grandparents: Betty Poppino of Lebanon, IN; and Carolyn Moles of Indianapolis, IN

  • His longtime best friend: Elijah Hall

  • And a host of other relatives and friends also survive.
