He was a retired farmer. He was a Hart County, KY, native and a resident of Glasgow, KY, at the time of his death there. He was the son of the late Maxie Henry Pennington and Ruby Robertson Pennington. He leaves 28 direct living descendants, spanning four generations.

Leroy Pennington age 83 of Glasgow passed away Monday, December 26, 2016 at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, KY, after a long illness.

Funeral services will be held 1pmCT, Thursday, December 29, 2016, at Butler Funeral Home, 201 East Street, Edmonton, KY, with burial in the Houk Cemetery. Visitation will be 5pm-8pmCT, Wednesday, December 28, 2016, and after 9amCT, Thursday at the funeral home.



Leroy Pennington, 83, Glasgow, KY (1938-2016)


He was the son of the late Maxie Henry Pennington and Ruby Robertson Pennington. He was a Hart county native, born March 6, 1933. He died Monday, December 26, 2016, in Glasgow, Barren County, KY, at the age of 83 years, nine months, and 20 days. He was a retired farmer until his illness.

He is survived by:
  • Two sons: Bobby (Barbara) Pennington and Billy (Karen) Pennington all of Horse Cave, KY

  • Two daughters: Virginia Edwards of Edmonton, KY, and Betty Shirley of Greensburg, KY

  • Nine grandchildren

  • Fourteen great-grandchildren

  • One great great grandson

  • One brother: Bill Pennington of Cave City, KY

  • And a sister: Margie Blair of Fountain Run, KY

  • Also a special friend :Jo Ann Ervin of Glasgow, KY; and her children, Judy, Kathy, Freida, Danny and their children
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Jo Ann Pennington; three brothers Melvin, Maxie Jr. and Tommy Pennington; and two sisters, Naomi Riordan and Geraldean Pennington.
