Jewell Parton, Casey County, KY (1924-2016)

She was a housewife and a member of Willow Springs United Methodist Church. She was the daughter of the late Frank & Patsy Sweet Richardson, and the widow of Clarence Parton. She was the matriarch of a large, respected family, numbering 100 direct living descendants, spanning four generations.

Jewell Parton, age 92, of Liberty, KY passed away on Thursday December 22nd, 2016 at her residence.

Funeral Services will be held 12pmNoonCT/1pmET, on Wednesday December 28, 2016 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel, 142 KY Hwy 49, Liberty, KY, with Rev. Larry Cochran and Bro. Johnny Maupin officiating. Burial will be in the Willow Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4pm-8pmCT/5pm-9pmET, Tuesday, December 27, 2016 and after 7amCT/8amET, Wednesday, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.

She was born in Liberty, Casey County, KY on October 12, 1924. She was a daughter of the late Frank and Patsy Sweet Richardson. She died Thursday, December 22, 2016, in Liberty, Casey County, KY, at the age of 92 years, two months and 10 days.

Jewell was the widow of Clarence Parton who passed away on July 5, 2006.

She was a housewife and a member of Willow Springs United Methodist Church.

Survivors include:
  • Three Daughters: Dolores and (Ben) Smith of Bluff City, TN; Mildred Southerland of Lewisville, TX; and Patsy Ann and (Don) Chappell of Liberty, KY

  • Two sons: Edward and (Wanda) Parton of Jamestown, KY; and David C. and (Kristie) Parton of Liberty, KY

  • Twenty eight grandchildren

  • Fifty-six great grandchildren

  • and eleven great great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death besides her parents and spouse were two daughters: Jeannette Thomas and Judy Wheeler; two sons: Laris Ray Parton and John Parton; three brothers: Richard and Milford Anderson and Carlos Richardson; and three sisters: Delta Richardson, Alta Maupin and Gladys Parton.
