Ruby Carol Leigh, 70, Danville, KY (1946-2016)

She was an Unemployment Specialist for the State of Kentucky. Ruby was a member of the First Baptist Church and a former employee of the Commonwealth First Federal Savings and Loan in Liberty, KY. In earlier years, she was active in the local American Cancer Society. Ruby loved working in her herbs and flower gardens.

Ruby Carol Leigh, 70, of Danville, KY passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Danville, KY.

Funeral services are at 12pmCT/1pmET, Saturday, December 3, 2016 at First Baptist Church, 300 Hustonville Street, Liberty, KY, with Bro. Jimmy Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. Visitation is Friday after 5pm/6pmCT, at the First Baptist Church and Saturday from 9amCT/10amET, until funeral service. Pallbearers are Alexa Slone, Zach Leigh, Gary Johnson, Larry Johnson, Gary Terry, Gordon Haney, and Tommy Woods.

Born October 2, 1946 in Johnson County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Ora Tackett Johnson. She died Wednesday, November 30, 2016, in Danville, Boyle County, KY, at the age of 70 years, one month, and 28 days.

She was an Unemployment Specialist for the State of Kentucky. Ruby was a member of the First Baptist Church and a former employee of the Commonwealth First Federal Savings and Loan in Liberty, KY. In earlier years, she was active in the local American Cancer Society. Ruby loved working in her herbs and flower gardens.

Survivors include her beloved husband, James Roger Leigh, whom she married May 24, 1965, and the following:
  • A son: Kirk (and Kathryn) Leigh of Danville, KY

  • Daughter: Robyn Slone of Danville, KY

  • Two grandchildren: Alexa Slone and Zach Leigh; two brothers, Larry (and Sue) Johnson and Gary (and Susan) Johnson, both of Paintsville; and a sister, JoAnn (and Gary) Melvin of Paintsville.
