Ms. Willie Maxine Calhoun Thompson Shope of Louisville, KY, departed this life on Monday, November 21, 2016 at the Westport Care Center in Louisville, KY.

The funeral services for Ms. Willie Maxine Calhoun Thompson Shope will be conducted at 1pmCT, Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Akin Cemetery in Green County. Bro. Bobby Thompson, Jr. and Bro. Dan Perkins will officiate. Visitation is requested from 2:30pm-7pmCT/3:30pm-8pmET, Friday, November 25, 2016, at the Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY. Visitation will resume after 8amCT, Saturday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home until time of the funeral service.

Ms. Willie Maxine Calhoun Thompson Shope was the daughter of the late W.M. Calhoun and Flossie Walker Calhoun. She was born on January 4, 1932 in Green County, KY and departed this life on Monday, November 21, 2016 at the Westport Care Center in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY. She was 84 years, 10 months, and 17 days of age.

She was a retired caretaker for the disabled.

Survivors include:
  • Three daughters and a son-in-law: Peggy and Steven Puhl of Ohio, Rose Gamble of Louisville, KY; and Annette Carlson of Colorado

  • Two sons and a daughter-in-law: Bobby and Genie Thompson and Danny Thompson all of Louisville, KY

  • Eleven grandchildren

  • Twenty-one great-grandchildren

  • One great-great-grandchild

  • Two brothers and two sisters-in-law: Aubrey Calhoun, David and Betty Calhoun all of Green County, KY; and Regina Calhoun of Henderson, KY

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
Ms. Shope was also preceded in death by a granddaughter: Abigail Puhl; great-grandchild: Victor Puhl; two brothers: Veachel Calhoun and Rolline Calhoun; two sisters: Carnell Calhoun and Wilkie Lewis.
