Mr. Robert A. Farmer, Jr., 56, Columbia, KY (1960-2016)

Mr. Farmer earned a living driving a truck, but lived his life in the ministry. He was a former pastor and a member of the Mt. Zion First Church of God and was a member of the Casey Creek Masonic Lodge. Mr. Farmer had a kind and helpful spirit, and continually encouraged those around him through word and deed. He was a native of Taylor County, KY, and a resident of Adair County, KY, at the time of his death. His wife, Trina Wheat Farmer of Columbia, KY, survives. He leaves two direct and one step living descendants.

Mr. Robert A. Farmer, Jr. of Columbia, KY, formerly of Campbellsville, passed from this life on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at the University of Louisville Hospital after an unexpected illness.

There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Farmer on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 1pmCT/2pmET, in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY 42718. Interment will follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 3878 Greensburg Rd, Campbellsville, KY 42718. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, November 18, after 4pmCT/5pmET.

Born on November 12, 1960 in Taylor County, KY. He died Tuesday, November 15, 2016, in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, at the age of 56 years and 3 days.

Mr. Farmer earned a living driving a truck, but lived his life in the ministry. He was a former pastor and a member of the Mt. Zion First Church of God and was a member of the Casey Creek Masonic Lodge. Mr. Farmer had a kind and helpful spirit, and continually encouraged those around him through word and deed.

He leaves to mourn his passing:

  • His wife: Trina (Wheat) Farmer of Columbia, KY

  • One son: Justin Farmer of Columbia, KY

  • A step-daughter: Amanda Jessie of Columbia, KY

  • His mother: Marjorie "Margie" (Purvis) Edwards and husband Donald of Campbellsville, KY

  • Two sisters: Sharon Lawson and husband Keith, and Vickie Knifley, KY; and husband Rodney, all of Campbellsville, KY

  • One dearly loved grandchild: Reagan "Peanut" Jessie of Columbia, KY

  • And a host other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his father, Robert A. Farmer, Sr., and a sister, Karen Farmer.
