Dorothy Mae Butt, Metcalfe Co., KY (1925-2016)

She enjoyed gardening and making beautiful quilts. She retired from Wright's IGA of Union City, Indiana where she was a delicatessen. She was a native of Edmonton, KY, and a resident of Columbus, IN at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Icy Hurt Fields and the widow of Robert Butt. She was the matriarch of a great family, numbering 69 direct living descendants. Her final resting place will be in Metcalfe County.

Dorothy Mae Butt age 90 of Columbus, Indiana, formerly of Union City, Indiana entered into Heaven at 8am, Friday, October 21, 2016.

The funeral service will be conducted at 1pmCT, Monday, October 24, 2016 at Butler Funeral Home, 201 East Street, Edmonton, KY, with Pastor Glenn Poynter officiating. Visitation will be from 11amCT until service time on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Fields Cemetery.

She was born in Edmonton, Metcalfe County, KY on December 17, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Icy Hurt Fields. She died Friday, October 21, 2016, in Columbus, Bartholomew County, IN, at the age of 90 years, 10 months, and four days.

Dorothy enjoyed gardening and making beautiful quilts. She retired from Wright's IGA of Union City, Indiana where she was a delicatessen.

Survivors include:
  • Her children: Franklin Lloyd of McQuady, KY; Donald Lloyd of Columbus, IN; Michael (Cassandra) Lloyd of Union City, IN; Linda (Terry Poweshick) Thomas of Tulsa, OK

  • Daughters in Law, Betty Lloyd of Glasgow, KY; and Linda Lloyd of Columbus, IN, with whom she made her home

  • Twenty-six grandchildren
  • Twenty-nine great grandchildren

  • Ten great great grandchildren
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Robert in September 1994, grandparents, sons, Rondal Lloyd, Edward Lloyd and brother Robert Fields. Memorial contributions may be made to Lowell General Baptist Church. Send Condolences to the family of Dorothy Mae Hurt Butt
