Maxine Huddleston Dykes, 86, Adair County, KY (1930-2016)

She was the matriarch of a prominent Adair County, KY family. She was the daughter of the late Herbert & Bertha Grant Huddleston, and the widow of Oris Dee Dykes. She leaves 10 direct living descendants. She was a member of Beech Grove Separate Baptist Church, a factory worker and a homemaker.

Maxine Dykes age 86 years formerly of Glensfork, KY, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2016 at 3:30amCT, at Signature Health at Summit Manor, Columbia, KY.

Funeral services will be Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 1pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Stanley Watson and Bro. Matthew Lawhorn officiating. Interment in Grant Cemetery at Glensfork. Visitation will be after 4:30pmCT, Friday, October 7, 2016, at the funeral home.



Maxine Dykes, 86, Adair County, KY (1930-2016)


She was born on September 2, 1930 at Melson Ridge, Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Herbert & Bertha Grant Huddleston of Glensfork, Adair County, KY. She died Thursday, October 6, 2016, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 86 years, one month, and four days.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oris Dee Dykes on November 2, 1998 abd two brothers & two sisters William Huddleston, Ben Huddleston, Christine Andrew and Kathleen Powell.

She is survived by:
  • Three sons: Dr. Michael Dykes & his wife Donna of Vienna, VA; Mark Dykes & his wife Wendy of Columbia, KY; and Marty Dykes & his wife Stephanie of Columbia, KY

  • Two sisters: Earnesteen Bryson of Columbia, KY; and Nadine Scott of Columbia, KY

  • Seven grandchildren: Hannah Dykes, Abby Dykes, Elizabeth Dykes, Jonathan Dykes, Collin Dykes, Leah Dykes and Alex Meredith

  • Several nieces, nephews, a host of other relatives & friends
She was a member of Beech Grove Separate Baptist Church, a factory worker and a homemaker.
