Alonzo A. Harris, 89, Russell Co., KY (1927-2016)

He was the patriarch of a highly regarded Russell County family. He was a U.S. military veteran and will be accorded full military honors by the Russell County Honor Guard. He was the son of the late Alonzo Harris, Sr. and the late Ella Mae Blair Harris, and the widower of Geraldean Harris.

Alonzo A. Harris, 89, Russell Springs, Ky, a United States Army veteran, died Tuesday morning at his residence.

Funeral service will be at 3pmCT, Saturday, August 6, 2016, at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 N Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, with burial in the Russell Springs City Cemetery with full military honors by the Russell County Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 4pm to 8pmCT, Friday, August 5, 2016, and after 12pmNoonCT, until funeral time at 3pmCT.



He was preceded in death by his parents, Alonzo Harris Sr. and Ella Mae Blair; his wife, Geraldean Harris; four brothers and four sisters.

He is survived by:
  • Two daughters: Vickie Jo Irvin & Alisa (Daryl) Guffey both from Mt. Juliet, TN

  • Six grandchildren

  • Twenty-one great grandchildren

  • One great great grandchild

  • A sister: Laverne Garrard, Stockbridge, GA

  • And a daughter-in-law: Judy Irvin
The family requests memorials be made to the Coffey's Chapel United Methodist Church and these can be made at the funeral home.
