Ms. Sarah Edna Gray Wolfe of Louisville, KY, formerly of Burkesville, KY, passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2016.

Funeral Services for Ms. Sarah Edna Gray Wolfe for Louisville family and friends will be conducted on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at 6pmCT/7pmET at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church 1403 South Park Road, Fairdale, KY 40118 with visitation after 1pmCT, Tuesday, July 12, 2016 until the funeral hour. Funeral Services for Burkesville family and friends will be conducted on Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at 6pmCT, in The Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home, 601 N Main Street, Burkesville, KY with Bro. Sonny Mull officiating and eulogy given by Sarah Garner. Burial will be in the Dutch Creek Cemetery in Cumberland County, KY. The Family will receive friends after 6pmCT, Wednesday, July 13, 2016 until the funeral hour at Norris-New Funeral Home.

She was born on Wednesday, February 1, 1933, in Cumberland County, KY, the daughter of Charles Worth and Dappy Hill Mullinix Gray. She died Saturday, July 9, 2016 at her residence in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, having attained the age of 83 years, five months, and eight days.

She was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Fairdale, KY, a Seamstress for Bob Evans Manufacturing and a Metal Worker for Reynolds Metal.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Gayle Simpson; her siblings, Helen Jean Gray Baker, Evelyn Logan, Charles Gray, Dorotha Garmon, and Ruth Gray; and her grandson, Charles Joseph Young. She is survived by:
  • Her children: Michael Joe Simpson (and Shirley Emerson) of Louisville, KY; Hildreth Charles Young, Jimmy Leon (and Barbara) Young, both of Burkesville, KY; Susan Jean (and Tommy) Walker of Shepherdsville, KY; and Terry Hill Young of Burkesville, KY

  • Her siblings: W. L. Gray of Indianapolis, IN; Virginia Guthrie of Louisville, KY; Sam Dudley Gray of Burkesville, KY; Eva Jane Baldwin of Louisville, KY; Jennifer Gray of Gamaliel, KY; and Junior Gray of Burkesville, KY

  • Her grandchildren: Penny Mills, Sarah Garner, Michelle Simpson, Christina Young, Joseph Young, Aaron Young, Jordan Walker, and Jessica Walker

  • And six great-grandchildren
