Major bragging rights issue: Will first ice-cold beer legally sold in Adair County in the 21st Century be available at Knifley or Columbia?
Comments welcome from anyone who knows more than we can find out? You may can help us all by frequently checking: Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Licenses Look Up Portal

By Ed Waggener

Will the business to open with a malt beverage license in Adair County be an outlet licensed by the City of Columbia or will it be out in Adair County?

At the Columbia/Adair County EDA meeting today CJE Mike Stephens was asked when the first alcoholic beverages would be sold. It was his guess, he said, that the first outlets would be city stores - maybe four of them - owned by one chain. And, though he said it was only conjecture, his guess would be that malt beverages would be available as early as Friday, June 24, 2016.

Word has reached us from a reliable source that there will be an ABC Inspection at Patterson's Bait Shop in Knifley, tomorrow, Wednesday, early in the morning. The source wrote: "Oh, the significance of this would be that this is going to be the FIRST ABC inspection for Adair County...:)" We assumed the writer meant for a store licensed by Adair County, not Columbia, KY.

Bragging rights at stake, here, not to mention that if Knifley is the first to have malt beverages they may see a flood of folks who never heard of the place Revisiting Knifley, festival or no.

Everyone is anxiously awaiting. Those interested in who has what licenses can check as frequently as they wish at this KY ABC link: Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Licenses Look Up Portal
