Jerry Allen (Byrd) Tooley, 61, Cumberland Co., KY (1954-2016)

Jerry was a former worker at Southern Standard where he retired after 30 plus years. He was a native of Louisville, KY and was a resident of Louisville at the time of his death. He will be buried in Coe Ridge Cemetery in his ancestral Cumberland County, KY. Those around him loved, him, as they write in tribute: 'Jerry was the best man in the world. A very good family man. Helped others before he helped himself. Best pawpaw in the world, whole hearted. He was a man of few words. He lived his life with a meek personality. A very wise man and loyal to his beliefs as well as the people around him.'

Jerry Allen "Byrd" Tooley, age 61, of Louisville, KY passed away on Saturday June 18, 2016 to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Funeral service will be Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 1pmCT, at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, 304 North Main Street, Burkesville, KYm with burial in Coe Ridge Cemetery in Cumberland County, KY. Visitation will be on Saturday, June 25, 2016 from 11amCT until service time at 1pmCT, at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home.



Jerry Allen (Byrd) Tooley, 61, Cumberland Co., KY (1954-2016)


Jerry was born to his proud Father Ray David Tooley and his wonderful Mother the late Isabelle Winfrey Holman Tooley on September 5, 1954 in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY. He died Saturday, June 25, 2016, in Louisville, Jefferenson County, KY, at the age of 61 years, nine months, and 20 days.

Jerry was a former worker at Southern Standard where he retired after 30 plus years.

In addition to his Mother, Jerry will be joining his nephew Timothy Tooley Jr, his sister in law Cokie Tooley and his oldest brother Leslie Malcolm, AKA L.M. Survivors include:
  • His father: Ray David Tooley of Louisville, KY

  • Brothers: Timmie Tooley Louisville, KY; Brother David E and Judy Tooley Louisville, KY

  • Three step children: Martez, Kowona and Shanta Ballard

  • His latest three step children: Essex Turner, Robert Simpson lll, AKA Bub, Andre Simpson

  • Two daughters in law: Rhonda and Toyia Simpson

  • Four grandchildren: Andre Jr., Lil Essex, Amirah and Dredyn

  • His mother-in-law: Sedella Turner of Louisville, KY

  • Sisters in law: Shereen Ball of Louisville, KY; Sylvia Louisville, KY; Diana of Michigan, and Tina of Texas

  • Brothers in law: David of Texas, Walter of Michigan, Tyrone, Ernesto Turner of Louisville, KY

  • A host of nieces and nephews, cousins, friends Aunts and uncles and his Brother from another Mother, Dave Hershel.

  • Last but not least, his one and only, Friend, Lover, and Better Half: Sherri Turner (Tooley)
Jerry was the best man in the world. A very good family man. Helped others before he helped himself. Best pawpaw in the world, whole hearted. He was a man of few words. He lived his life with a meek personality. A very wise man and loyal to his beliefs as well as the people around him. The King (Abba)
