News from Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY

COLUMBIA, KY (Wed 1 Jun 2016 - During the month of May 2016, there were 20 traffic accidents investigated by the State Police working in the Post 15 area in the 11 counties of Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, Marion, Metcalfe, Monroe, Russell, Taylor and Washington.

There were three fatal collisions during the month of May in the Post 15 area.
  • Carla Monday, 55 years of age of Casey Co KY was killed on 05/10/16 in Taylor Co KY
  • David Bryant, 62 years of age of Casey Co KY was killed on 05/25/16 in Casey Co KY
  • Ina Cochran, 47 years of age of Russell Co KY was killed on 05/25/16 in Taylor Co KY
This brings our yearly fatality count to 10 compared with 16 through this same period in 2015. Statewide fatality count stands at 278 compared with 267 through this same period in 2015. During the month of May 2016, there were 1154 citations written, 114 courtesy notices written, 1824 vehicles inspected, 689 complaints answered, 79 motorists assisted, 60 criminal cases opened and 215 criminal arrests made.
