Bro. Shirley was a Baptist minister and member of Lone Star Baptist Church in Metcalfe County, KY. He was the son of the late Ray & Inis Sexton Shirley. His wife, Judy Shirley, survives. He leaves 17 direct living descendants.

Bro. Lendell Shirley age 69 of Edmonton, KY, died Thursday, April 20th 2016 at his home.

Funeral services will be held 3pmCT, Sunday, April 24, 2016, at Butler Funeral Home, 201 East Street, Edmonton, KY,m with burial in the Bragg Cemetery, 100 Bragg Cemetery Road, Edmonton, KY (in Western Adair County, KY.) Visitation will be from 1pm until 8pmCT Saturday, April 23, 2016, and after 9amCT, Sunday at the funeral home.



Bro. Lendell Shirley, 69, Metcalfe County, KY (1946-2016)


He was the son of the late Ray and Inis Sexton Shirley. He was born July 9, 1946. He died Thursday, April 20, 2016, in Edmonton, Metcalfe County, KY, at the age of 69 years, nine months, and 11 days.

Bro. Lendell was a Baptist Minister and member of the Lone Star Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife Judy, and the following:
  • Two daughters: Kim Hay and husband Joe, Charity Blaydes and husband David all of Edmonton, KY

  • Two sons: Bro. Aaron Shirley and wife Annie of Glasogw, KY; and Timothy Shirley of Smiths Grove, KY

  • Six brothers: Nolan, Selby, Maxie and Leon Shirley all of Glasgow, KY<; Rondal Shirley of Manchester, TN; and Joe Shirley of Nashville, TN

  • Three sisters: Betty Tarry of Glasgow, KY; Kathryn Dickson of Edmonton, KY; and Loretta Dickson of Glasgow, KY

  • Thirteen grandchildren: Megan Wade and husband Austin, Kari Constant, Hailey Shirley, Hannah Blaydes, Rachel Shirley, Holly Blaydes, Allison Hay, Jared Shirley, Raygen Shirley, Daniel Shirley, Ryan Shirley, Hadley Blaydes and Michael Thomas Shirley

  • And a host of other family members and friends.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother in law Michael Shirley and a sister in law Paulette Shirley.
