CHS principal nominated for Educator of the Year award

By Calen McKinney

Campbellsville High School Principal Kirby Smith was nominated for this year's Campbellsville/Taylor County Chamber of Commerce Educator of the Year award.

Each year, the Chamber honors an educator for their service. Teachers are nominated from Campbellsville and Taylor County schools, Kentucky Christian Academy and Campbellsville University.

Smith was recognized at the annual Chamber banquet on Thursday, April 21, 2016. Troy Young, a teacher at Taylor County High School, received this year's award.

Smith served as assistant principal at CHS in 2008 and has been principal since 2009. He is also the head CHS baseball coach.

CHS received the distinction of being a distinguished high school this year, based on last year’s state test results. This is the first time in school history CHS has received this honor.
