Lou Edith Jones, 99, Cumberland Co., KY (1916-2016)

She was a lifelong member of the White Hill United Methodist Church near Breeding, KY. Her long, inspirational life was completed just 28 days short of 100 years. Lou Edith Jones was a helpmate to her husband in their farming operation. She loved gardening and sharing her fresh garden vegetables with her family and friends. She was a lifelong member of the White Hill United Methodist Church and treasurer of the White Hill Cemetery Board. Her dream was to accumulate enough funds for the cemetery so that it could be maintained from the interest it earned. She was the widow of Richard Godfrey Jones. She leaves 13 direct descendants.

Lou Edith Jones age 99 of Burkesville, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at NHC HealthCare in Glasgow, KY after an extended illness.

Funeral services, will be Monday, April 25, 2016 at 11amCT, at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, 304 N. Main Street, Burkesville, KY, with burial in White Hill Cemetery. Family requests visitation on Sunday, April 24, 2016 from 12pmNoonCT until 8pmCT, at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home.



Lou Edith Jones, 99, Cumberland Co., KY (1916-2016)

Lou Edith Jones was born on May 14, 1916 in Cumberland County, Kentucky.

She was a daughter of the late Alfred and Emma Garmon and the granddaughter of the late Charles W. and Sallie Bell Garrett and Sam and Nancy Garmon, with whom she lived after the death of her last surviving parent when she was twelve years old. She died Sunday, April 17, 2016, in Glasgow, Barren County, KY, at the age of 99 years, 11 months, and three days.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Richard Godfrey Jones and her son Charles Ray Jones.

Lou Edith was a helpmate to her husband in their farming operation. She loved gardening and sharing her fresh garden vegetables with her family and friends. She was a lifelong member of the White Hill United Methodist Church and treasurer of the White Hill Cemetery Board. Her dream was to accumulate enough funds for the cemetery so that it could be maintained from the interest it earned.

Survivors include:
  • One daughter: Genette (Dale) Burchett of Glasgow, KY

  • Daughter-in-law: Donna Pickett Jones of Bowling Green, KY

  • Five grandchildren: Mary Genice Burchett (Bryan) Bower and Richard (Chanda Carter) Burchett all of Glasgow, KY; Stephen(Ashley Gravitt)Burchett of Frankfort, KY; Rebecca(Brian)Melloan, and Jenna Jones (and fiance' Tommy Haynes) all of Bowling Green, KY

  • Seven great grandchildren: Kylie Burchett, Audrey Burchett, Jackson Bower, and Nicholas Bower all of Glasgow, KY; Garrett Melloan of Bowling Green, KY; and Leanne and Kate Burchett both of Frankfort, KY
