LWC's Dante Johnson NAIA National Track Athlete of the week

By Charles Balcom

COLUMBIA, KY - Dante Johnson has been named the NAIA National Men's Track Athlete of the Week, the national office announced on Wednesday.

It marks the first time in Lindsey Wilson men's track and field program history that a Blue Raider has earned the national recognition.

Earlier this week, Johnson was also selected as the Mid-South Conference Track Athlete of the Week for the third time in his career.

Johnson won all three track events he competed in at the Centre Invitational, breaking two meet records and securing one national "A" standard.

The sophomore from Radcliff, Kentucky was a part of the 4x100 meter relay team that won the event with a time of 41.79 seconds, breaking the previous meet record of 42.17 seconds. Johnson then won the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.86 seconds, beating the previous meet record of 15.06 seconds and securing his national standard.

Johnson completed his hat trick with a victory in the 400 meter dash, crossing the tape first out of 39 competitors with his time of 49.60 seconds. Johnson accounted for 30 team points at the invitational, helping the Blue Raiders to a runner-up team finish
