Porcic earns MSC Men's Tennis Player of the Week

By Chris Wells

Denis Porcic has been named the Mid-South Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.

Porcic was unbeaten last week, posting a 3-0 singles record at No. 1 singles and a 4-0 doubles mark in the top-seeded doubles matches.

The Tuzla, Bosnia & Herzegovina, native guided the Blue Raiders to a 3-1 record last week. The lone loss came in a 5-4 setback to NCAA Division I Austin Peay State (Tenn.).

Porcic won a pair of 6-4, 6-1 singles matches against No. 16 Campbellsville (Ky.) and Austin Peay. He captured a three-set thriller over Cumberlands' Ariez Heshaam to help Lindsey Wilson take a 7-2 win over the Patriots in his other singles match.

Porcic paired with Raul Mendez to win four times last week.

He improves to 8-1 in singles this season and 7-3 in doubles.

Porcic picks up his first weekly award of the season and third of his career.
