Irene Bryant, 79, of Russell Springs, died Thursday, March 31, 2016 at the Summit Manor Nursing Home in Columbia, KY.

Funeral service for Irene Bryant will be 1pmCT, Sunday, April 3, 2016 at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 N Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Jerry Smith officiating. Visitation will be after 5pmCT, Saturday, April 2, 2016, and 11amCT, Sunday. Interment will be in the Free Union Cemetery.

She was born March 11, 1937 in Russell County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Christopher Columbus & Letha Marie Foley Scales. She died Thursday, March 31, 2016, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 79 years, 20 days.

She was a homemaker and a member of Faith General Independent Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and several brothers & sisters.

Survivors:
  • Husband of 60 years: Jessie O. Bryant

  • Son: Dickie (Donna) Bryant, Columbia, KY

  • Two grandchildren: Lisa Marie Bryant, Columbia, KY; and Brandon (Michelle) Bryant, Glasgow, KY

  • Three sisters: Verene Wheat, Cincinnati, Ohio; Lenola McFarland, Cincinnati, Ohio; and Geraldine Twyford, Russell Springs, KY

  • Brother: Garnett Scales, Cincinnati, Ohio
