KSP Warning Public About Phone Scams

By Tpr. Jeff Gregory
Kentucky State Police Post 4, Elizabethtown

Elizabethtown, KY - Kentucky State Police Post 4 is asking for citizens to be aware of Telephone Scams where the caller is purporting to represent the KSP.

The KSP has not entered into any agreement with any fundraising organizations and furthermore has never solicited money over the phone. We advise asking whomever you are speaking with to send you literature by mail to your residence for your review.

We have received reports in the last few days that citizens are receiving these calls and want to make the public aware. Anyone who receives a suspicious call from someone wanting credit card or bank account information for a charitable donation should never give this info over the phone.

If you would like to donate to a worthy cause in support of the Kentucky State Police, we ask that you consider KSP Trooper Island Camp as well as the Trooper Joseph Cameron Ponder Memorial Fund. The official addresses for donations are:
Trooper Island Inc.
Kentucky State Police
P.O. Box 473
Albany, Ky. 42602

Trooper Joseph Cameron Ponder Memorial Fund
P.O. Box 163
Rineyville, Ky. 40162
