Harry Truman Loy, 70, Adair Co., KY (1945-2016)

He was an outstanding Adair County citizen and an outstanding educator. He was a member of Columbia United Methodist Church, a teacher & a former Adair County High School principal, and a former superintendent in Muhlenberg County & Livingston County. He served for a time as an official with the Kentucky Department of Education. He was a member of a highly distinguished family with a continuing tradition of public service and leadership. He was the son of the late Holland Woodrow & Nina Wilson Loy. His wife, Nancy Depp Loy, survives. He leaves seven direct living descendants.

Harry Truman Loy age 70 years of Columbia, KY, died Sunday February 14, 2016 at 7:54pmCT, at TJ Health Columbia Emergency Room, Columbia, KY.

Funeral service Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at 2pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Neil Janes the officiating clergy. Interment in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 4pmCT, Tuesday, February 16, 2016.



Pallbearers: Anthony Hale, Steven Loy, Barry Corbin, Craig Brown, Alex Durham and Steven Collins.

Harry Truman Loy, 70, Adair Co., KY (1945-2016)


He was born on March 22, 1945 in Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late Holland Woodrow & Nina Wilson Loy. He died Sunday, February 14, 2016, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 70 years, 10 months, and 23 days.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Bobby W. Loy

He is survived by his wife Nancy Depp Loy of Columbia, KY, and the following:
  • One son: Michael Loy & his wife Robin of Columbia, KY

  • One daughter: Angela Loy Cook & her husband Bryan of Columbia, KY

  • Two brothers: Marshall Loy & his wife Joan of Columbia, KY; and Dennis Gene Loy of Columbia, KY

  • Sister-in-law: Mary Odean Loy of Columbia, KY

  • Three nieces & one nephew: Janet Parrish, Cheryl Corbin, Carolyn Hale and Steven Loy

  • Five grandchildren: Alex Durham, Kate Durham, Amber Loy, Justin Truman Loy & Ashley Loy

  • A host of other relatives & friends.
Harry was a member of Columbia United Methodist Church, a teacher & a former Adair County High School principal, and a former superintendent in Muhlenberg County & Livingston County. He served for a time as an official with the Kentucky Department of Education.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers a donation to Columbia United Methodist Church, Lindsey Wilson College Golf Team, The Lindsey Wilson Singers or the Adair County Family Resource Center. These may be made at the funeral home.
