Janet Sue Corbin Lee, Somerset, KY, Adair native (1941-2016)

She was a native of Columbia, KY, and a resident of Somerset, KY, at the time of her death. She was a member of an old line, highly respected Adair County, KY family, the daughter of the late Elvin and Mary Hazel Overstreet Corbin. Her husband of over 58 years, Russell Allen Lee, survives. She leaves eight direct living descendants. Sue was a homemaker, worked as a nurse at the Columbia Hospital. She helped deliver her first grandchild. She loved her family, sewing, quilting, collecting cookie jars. Sue was a faithful member of Liberty Baptist Church and considered herself a missionary for the Lord.

Sue Lee, age 74, of Somerset, KY, departed this life on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at the Jean Waddle Hospice Care Center in Somerset.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at 10amCT/11amET, in the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 W Highway 80, Somerset, KY, with Bro. Ulanda Price and Bro. Troy Merrick officiating. Burial will be in the Liberty Baptist Cemetery in Kidder, KY. Visitation will be Monday, February 15, 2016 after 4pmCT/5pmET,at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.



Pallbearers will be Sue's nephews and honorary pallbearers will be cousins and members from Liberty Baptist Church.

Janet Sue Lee was born on April 29, 1941 in Columbia, Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Elvin and Mary Hazel Overstreet Corbin. She died Saturday, February 13, 2016, in Somerset, Pulaski County, KY, at the age of 74 years, nine monthsm and 15 days.

Sue was a homemaker, worked as a nurse at the Columbia Hospital. She helped deliver her first grandchild. She loved her family, sewing, quilting, collecting cookie jars. Sue was a faithful member of Liberty Baptist Church and considered herself a missionary for the Lord.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Russell Allen Lee, whom she married on January 4, 1958 in Ringgold, GA, and the following:
  • A daughter: Debra Sue (and Andy) Collins of Russell Springs, KY

  • A son: Ricky Dale (and Lisa) Lee of Tateville, KY

  • Two sisters: Imogene Gayle (and Lewis) Garrison of Columbia, KY; and Emma Cordelia (and David) Revis of Campbellsville, KY

  • A sister in-law: Charlene Corbin of Jacksonville, FL

  • Six grandchildren: Charles Reed Collins, Kimiko Sue Collins, Robert Allen Collins, Courtney Lee, Tyler Lee, and Noah Lee

  • And a host of cousins, friends and family.
Along with her parents, she was preceded her in death by a brother, Arthur "Bud" Corbin.

The family request expressions of sympathy be to Hospice of Lake Cumberland or Liberty Baptist Church's Beans and Rice for Children Program.
