Travel: I-65 Advisory regarding Winter Weather thru Central KY By Chris Jessie, Public Information Officer KYTC, District 4, Elizabethtown, KY With forecasts calling for ice and/or significant snow accumulations over the next 48 hours, motorists should be aware of quickly changing travel conditions. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet personnel are highly concentrated on snow removal activities through the construction zone of I-65 between Munfordville and Elizabethtown. In efforts to prevent stranded motorists, crews will be prepared to close the northbound left lane. This lane is bordered to the left and right by concrete barrier wall. In emergency situations, it is very difficult to access. In excessive snow situations, it can become nearly impossible to access without also closing the southbound lanes. If it becomes necessary, crews will prevent access to the left northbound lane near the Exit 58 interchange. We cannot stress enough how important it will be tonight for motorists to focus on driving, slow down and allow plenty of distance between vehicles. Snow and ice crews will be reporting at Midnight (Eastern) to begin patrolling. This story was posted on 2016-01-21 11:41:05
