Hildred L. (Pete) Jessie, 76, Edmonton, KY (1939-2016)

Mr. Jessie was a member of the Prices Creek Missionary Baptist Church and owner and operator of H.J. Shirts & More and H.J. Storage Buildings in Edmonton, KY. He was born in Breeding, Adair County, KY, and was a resident of Edmonton, KY, at the time of his death. He was the patriarch of a distinguished family, the son of late Oscar and Virgie Estes Jessie. His wife of 53 years, Delsie Wilson Jessie, survives. He leaves 18 direct living descendants.

Hildred L. "Pete" Jessie, 76, of Edmonton, KY and formerly of Columbia, KY, died Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at the Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green, KY.

Funeral service will be held Monday, January 25, 2016 at 11amCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Danny Wayne Sexton officiating. Burial will follow the service in Chestnut Grove Cemetery, 54 Chestnut Grove Road, Breeding, KY. Visitation after 3:30pmCT, Sunday, January 24, 2016, at the funeral home.


Casket Bearers: Stephen Edwards, Dr. Jacob Edwards, Marty Stout, Adam Yarberry, Drake Jessie, Carson Jessie, Easton Jessie and Caleb Edwards.

Hildred L. (Pete) Jessie, 76, Edmonton, KY (1939-2016)

Born October 13, 1939, in Breeding, KY, he was the son of the late Oscar and Virgie Estes Jessie. He died Tuesday, January 19, 2016, in Bowling Green, Warren County, KY, at the age of 76 years, three months, and six days.

Mr. Jessie was a member of the Prices Creek Missionary Baptist Church and owner and operator of H.J. Shirts & More and H.J. Storage Buildings in Edmonton, KY. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 53 years, Delsie Wilson Jessie of Edmonton, KY, and the following:
  • Two daughters: Carolyn Edwards and husband David of Columbia, KY; and Lisa Yarberry and husband Junior of Glasgow, KY

  • A son: Jeff Jessie and wife Stacy of Glasgow, KY

  • Seven grandchildren: Stephen Edwards (Cortney), Dr. Jacob Edwards, Holly Stout (Marty), Adam Yarberry (fiance Maelyn) and Drake, Carson and Easton Jessie

  • Eight great-grandchildren: Connor, Cooper, Cannon and Camden Stout; Caleb, Katie and Maddux Edwards; and Braxton Underwood

  • A sister: Margaret Gadberry and husband Joe of Breeding, KY

  • Several nieces and nephews

  • and his beloved pet, Gracie
