D.J. Davis, Jr., Green Co., KY (1938-2016)

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Greensburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was in Design Production for the former Greensburg Manufacturing Company for over 25 years, and was a farmer. He was a native of Green County, KY, and a resident of the county at the time of his death. He was the son of the late David Jefferson Davis, Sr., and Ida Milby Davis. His wife of 54 years, Sue Wright Davis, survives. He leaves nine direct and one step living descendants.

Mr. David Jefferson "D.J." Davis, Jr. of Greensburg, Kentucky, departed this life on Friday, January 8, 2016 at the University of Louisville Hospital, Louisville, KY.

The funeral services for Mr. D.J. Davis will be conducted at 1pmCT, Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Greensburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 699 Hodgenville Road, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens, 700 Old U.S. 68, Greensburg, KY. Bro. Kevin Brantley will be officiating. Visitation is requested from 5pmCT until 8pmET, Saturday, January 9, 2016, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY, and after 7amCT, Sunday. (Will move to the church at approximately 12pmNoonCT.)



Pallbearers: H.L. Foster, Gerald Foster, Dennis Hall, Jr., Billy Troutman, Tim Darnell, and Joey Bush.

Honorary pallbearers: Grandchildren and Middle Ground Sunday School Class.

Mr. David Jefferson "D.J." Davis, Jr. of Greensburg, Kentucky son of the late David Jefferson Davis, Sr. and Ida Milby Davis, was born on June 9, 1938 in Green County, Kentucky, and departed this life on Friday, January 8, 2016 at the University of Louisville Hospital, Louisville, KY. He was 77 years, 6 months, and 30 days of age.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Greensburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was in Design Production for the former Greensburg Manufacturing Company for over 25 years, and was a farmer.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sue Wright Davis of Greensburg, KY having united in marriage on October 22, 1961.

Other survivors include:
  • Two daughters and sons-in-law: Robin Davis and Ed McCarthy of North Carolina; and Traci Davis-Smith and John Smith of Richmond, KY

  • A son and daughter-in-law: Jon and Susan Davis of Tennessee

  • Six grandchildren: Janson Davis, Jacey Davis, Kelly McCarthy, Teddy McCarthy, Mallory Smith, and Dylan Smith

  • One step-grandchild: Nicholas Smith and his wife, Ashley of Lexington, KY

  • Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Wilma and Ray Branstetter of Horse Cave, KY; Brenda and Tom Macher of Frankfort, KY; Hubert and Phyllis Wright of Green County, KY; and Mitchell and Marissa Wright of Mt. Sherman, KY

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
Mr. Davis was also preceded in death by four sisters, Dennis Calhoun, Thracy Hall, Jane Foster, and Georgia Loyall.

The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Greensburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church Building Fund, which can be made at the funeral home or the church.
