Eugene West, 71, Adair Co., KY (1944-2015)

He was a truck driver. He served his country in U. S. Army 101st Airborne in both Vietnam & Desert Storm and will be accorded full military honors at commital rites in Mill Springs National Cemetery. His wife, Rachel Basey West and three step children, all Columbia, KY, survive as well as seven siblings, two in Adair County and five elsewhere.

Eugene West, age 71, of Columbia, KY passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 9:26pmCT, at his home after an illness.

Graveside service will be Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016 at 8amCT/9amET, at the Mill Springs National Cemetery, 9044 KY 80, Nancy, KY. Rev. Curtis Stacy will be the officiating clergy. Full Military Honors will be presented by the local VFW Post 6097 from Columbia, KY, with burial to follow.



Eugene West, 71, Adair Co., KY (1944-2015)

He was born on Tuesday, May 16, 1944 in Welch, McDowell County, WV. He was the son of the late Earl & Masie Blankenship West. He died Tuesday, December 9, 2015, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 71 years, six months, and 23 days.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Virgil West, Ken West & Elbert West.

He is survived his wife Rachel Basey West of Columbia, KY, and the following:
  • Three brothers: James West & his wife Judy of Glensfork, KY; Jerry West & his wife Kim of Franklin, TN; and Roger Dale West & his wife Joan of Nashville, TN

  • Four sisters: Joyce Hicks of Glensfork, KY; June Hurler of Vansant, VA; Bernice Hagerman of Mendota, VA; and Peggy Smith & her husband David of Orlando, FL

  • Three step-children: Alisha Bates, Ashley Gomez & Josh Witt, all of Columbia, KY

  • Several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
He was a truck driver, He served his county in U. S. Army 101st Airborne in both Vietnam & Desert Storm.
