He was a native of Adair County, KY, and a resident of Letcher County, KY, at the time of his death. He attended the Columbia Church of God and was a farmer. He was the son of the late Clyde & Janie Crawhorn Dial. He was the widower of Betty Taylor Dial. He leaves three direct living descendants.

Joe Dial, 78, of Whitesburg, KY; formerly of Columbia, died Monday, December 28, 2015 at 3:07pmET, at the Appalachian Regional Hospital in Whitesburg, KY.

Funeral service will be Thursday, December 31, 2015 at 11amCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Gene Conover officiating. Burial will be in Columbia Cemetery, 315 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 5pmCT, Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at the funeral home.

He was Wednesday, born January 24, 1937, in Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late Clyde & Janie Crawhorn Dial. He died Monday, December 28, 2015, in Whitesburg, Letcher County, KY, at the age of 78 years, 11 months, and four days.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Taylor Dial.

He attended the Columbia Church of God and was a farmer. Survivors include:
  • One daughter: Louise Dial (Regina Caudill) of Jeremiah, KY

  • One son: Larry Dial of Columbia, KY

  • Five brothers: Charles, James, William & Marshall Dial all of Columbia & Mitchell Dial of Columbus, IN

  • One sister: Martha Matney of Columbia, KY

  • Several other relatives and friends.
