Arlis MacArthur Guffey, 71, Russell Co., KY (1944-2015)

He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He served as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division. He owned Valley Scale, LLC, Clarksville, IN from 1977-2012. He was a native of Russell County, KY, the son of the late William & Rittie Dykes Guffey. His wife of 47 years, Maranne Guffey, survives. He leaves 10 direct living descendants.

Arlis MacArthur Guffey, 71, of Louisville, KY, formerly of Russell Co, KY, died Thursday, December 3, 2015 at the Nortons Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville.

Funeral service for Arlis MacArthur Guffey will be 1pmCT, Sunday, December 6, 2015 at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 N Main Street, Russell Springs, KY. Visitation will be after 6pmCT, Saturday, December 5, 2015, and 12pmNoonCT, Sunday. Visitation will be after 6pmCT, Saturday, December 5, 2015, and 12pmCT, on Sunday.



Active Pallbearers: Chris Guffey, Samuel Guffey, Matthew Guffey, Jeremy Logsdon, Brad Guffey, and Rick Guffey.

Arlis MacArthur Guffey, 71, Russell Co., KY (1944-2015)

He was born June 10, 1944 in Russell County, KY. He was the so of the late William & Rittie Dykes Guffey. He died Thursday, December 3, 2015, in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, at the age of 71 years, five months, and 23 days.

Arlis was a Veteran of US Army who served as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne division. He owned and operated Valley Scale, LLC, in Clarksville, Indiana, from 1977 to 2012.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Marianne Guffey, Louisville, KY, and the following:
  • Three children: Christopher Lynn (Ashleigh Ann) Guffey, Louisville, KY; Matthew Scott (Polly Lynn) Guffey, Prospect, KY; and Sarah Elizabeth (Emily Nicole) Guffey, Denver, CO

  • Seven grandchildren: Samuel Christian, Madison Paige, Jack Thomas, Noah Scott, Caroline Grace, Brooks Alexander, and Lila June

  • Six brothers: Ramson Guffey, Jamestown; Bennie Joe Guffey, AL; Billy Robert Guffey, Louisville; Jimmy Rogers Guffey, Russell Springs, KY; Daryl Eugene Guffey, Texas; and Ricky Lawrence Guffey
  • Three sisters: Myrtle Emily Guffey, Jamestown, KY; Edna Doris Hilbert, CA; and Virginia Kay Mena, TN
