Mrs. Ruth Akin Johnson, Green Co., KY native (1927-2015)

She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. She was a native of Green County, KY, and was a resident of the county at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Arvin Norman Akin and Rosa Ella Sharp Akin, and the widow of Claude Kelly Johnson.

Mrs. Ruth Akin Johnson, 88, of Louisville, Kentucky, departed this life on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at the Golden Living Center-Green Hill, Greensburg, KY.

The funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Akin Johnson were conducted at 12pmNoonCT, Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY, with burial following in the Hogards Chapel Cemetery. Bro. Al Hardy officiated. Visitation was after 9:30amCT until time of the funeral service Wednesday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home.



Pallbearers: Earl Young Henderson, Jack Henderson, Thomas Henderson, John Henderson, Tom Akin, and Chuck Wise.

Mrs. Ruth Akin Johnson, Green Co., KY native (1927-2015)


Mrs. Ruth Akin Johnson of Louisville, Kentucky, was born April 17, 1927, in Green County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Arvin Norman Akin and Rosa Ella Sharp Akin. She departed this life on Sunday, November 22, 2015 in Greensburg, Green County, KY. She was 88 years, seven months, and five days of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. She was also a retired head surgical nurse for St. Anthony's Hospital in Louisville.

She united in marriage to Claude Kelly Johnson on September 28, 1950 who preceded her in death in 1979.

Survivors include:
  • Nieces and nephews: Annabelle Henderson of Summersville, KY; Judith Marie Feirell of Elizabethtown, KY; Janice Akin of Campbellsville, KY; Gordon Thomas Akin of Knob Lick, KY; and Michael Todd Akin of Campbellsville, KY

  • and a host of other nieces, nephews other relatives and friends
Mrs. Johnson was also preceded in death by two brothers and a sister: Cecil Thomas Akin, Finis Akin, and Emily Akin.
