Dorothy Walbert Burris, 78, Knob Lick, KY (d. 19 Aug 2015)

After some time of factory work Dorothy devoted her entire life to being a loving mother and homemaker. Through God's love and mercy she was saved as a young woman and her faith carried her through the difficult times in life. Dorothy was a member of the Hillside Missionary Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Lemmie & Edna Walbert, and the widow of Rev. Herbert Junior Burris. She leaves 23 direct living descendants

Dorothy Walbert Burris age 78 of Knob Lick, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Barren County Health Care in Glasgow, KY.

Funeral services will be held 1pmCT, Saturday, August 22, 2015, at Butler Funeral Home, 201 East Street, Edmonton, KY, with burial in the Shirley-Dickson Cemetery. Visitation was 6pm-8pmCT, Thursday; 9am-8pmCT, Friday, August 21, 2015, and after 9amCT, Saturday, at the funeral home.



After some time of factory work Dorothy devoted her entire life to being a loving mother and homemaker. Through God's love and mercy she was saved as a young woman and her faith carried her through the difficult times in life. Dorothy was a member of the Hillside Missionary Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Lemmie and Edna Walbert of Glasgow, KY. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Herbert Junior Burris; one son, Herbert Michael Burris; two brothers, Carl and Roger Walbert; and one sister, Barbara Bragg.

She is survived by the following:
  • One son: Mark Burris of Knob Lick, KY

  • Three daughters: Shelia Jones and husband, Dennis of Sulphur Well, KY; and Katherine Byrd and husband Jerry of Knob Lick, KY; and Lynn Lunz and husband Dean of Edmonton, KY

  • Three brothers: Ronald Walbert and wife Sue of Louisville, KY; Russell Walbert and wife Patty of Bismark, ND; and Ricky Walbert of Glasgow, KY

  • Two sisters: Rebecca Lashley and husband Bobby of Austin, KY; and Patty Bertram of Apopka, FL

  • Ten grandchildren: Bryan Jones and wife Melissa, Brandon Jones and wife Sarah; April Jessee and husband Roscoe; Jessie Bryd, Dustin Byrd and wife Andrea; Dean Lunz, Jr and wife Brittany; David Lunz and wife Samantha; Jennifer Shirley and husband Allen; Jonathan Burris and Michael Burris.

  • Nine great grandchildren
