Richard Elvin Brown, 80, Russell Co., KY (1935-2015)

Richard had a deep devotion to his ministry of singing gospel music. He was the lead singer and emcee for southern gospel quartets in the Cincinnati, Ohio and Fort Wayne, Indiana areas. In this endeavor, he rejoiced to see many people accept Christ as Lord and Savior. He moved back to his home town of Russell Springs in the late 1990s. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather, as well as a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Russell Springs, KY. He also was a Veteran of United States Army.

Richard Elvin Brown, 80, of Russell Springs, died Monday, August 3, 2015 at the Russell County Hospital, Russell Springs, KY.

Funeral service for Richard Elvin Brown will be 10amCT, Friday, August 7, 2015 at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Jeff Griffin officiating. Visitation will be from 5pm-8pmCT, Thursday evening, August 7, 2015, at the church. Interment in the Union Cemetery (Gosser Ridge). Special music Kenneth Burnette, a friend and fellow partner, who sang many years with Richard in gospel music. Honorary pallbearers: Beckham Wilson, Kenneth Burnette



Richard Elvin Brown, 80, Russell Co., KY (1935-2015)

He was born April 11, 1935 in Russell Springs, Russell County, KY. He was the son of the late Aught Brown and Cloda McFarland Brown. He Died Monday, August 3, 2015, in Russell Springs, Russell County, KY, at the age of 80 years, three months, and 23 days.

Richard had a deep devotion to his ministry of singing gospel music. He was the lead singer and emcee for southern gospel quartets in the Cincinnati, Ohio and Fort Wayne, Indiana areas. In this endeavor, he rejoiced to see many people accept Christ as Lord and Savior. He moved back to his home town of Russell Springs in the late 1990s.

He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather, as well as a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Russell Springs.

He also was a Veteran of United States Army.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by ten brothers & sisters and several neices and nephews. Survivors include:
  • His voted and loving wife of 59 years: Shirley Centers Brown

  • Daughter: Terrie (Beckham) Wilson, Russell Springs, KY

  • Two grandaughters: Abigail Wilson, Alexandra Wilson of Russell Springs, KY

  • One brother: Glenn Brown, Loveland, Ohio

  • A host of neices and nephews
