Ruby L. Davis, Green County, KY (1936-2015)

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Russell Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She was retired from Phillip-Morris Manufacturing after working for 31 years and was a loving homemaker. She was a native of LaRue County, KY, and a resident of Green County, KY at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Earl Benningfield and Alta Lee Bright Benningfield. Her husband of 62 years, Leon G. Davis, survives. She leaves 13 direct living descendants.

Mrs. Ruby Laverne Davis, 79, of Greensburg, KY, departed this life on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at the T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, KY.

The funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Laverne Davis were conducted at 11amCT, Friday, July 31, 2015 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, with burial following in the Shirrell Family Cemetery in Green County. Bro. Steve Stewart and Bro. Wayne Morgan will be officiating. Visitation was requested from 4pmCT until 8pmCT, Thursday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, and after 7amCT, Friday until time of the funeral service.



Ruby L. Davis, Green County, KY (1936-2015)


Mrs. Ruby Laverne Davis of Greensburg, Green County, KY, was the daughter of the late Earl Benningfield and Alta Lee Bright Benningfield. She was born on March 15, 1936 in Larue County, KY, and departed this life on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at the T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. She was 79 years, four months, and 13 days of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Russell Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She was retired from Phillip-Morris Manufacturing after working for 31 years and was a loving homemaker.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Leon G. Davis of Greensburg, having united in marriage on February 14, 1953.

Other survivors include the following:
  • Her children: Teresa Stewart and the late Michael Stewart, Kathy and Larry Brock, and Tim and Sue Davis all of Greensburg, KY

  • Four grandchildren: Jamie Curry, Steve "Spanky" Stewart, Tim "Tubb" Davis, and Laryn Brock

  • Six great-grandchildren

  • Three brothers and three sisters: Randall Benningfield, David Benningfield, Paul Benningfield, Patricia Smith, Nancy Edwards, and Judy Adams

  • and a host of other relatives and friends
She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters: Wilbur Benningfield, Charles Benningfield, Richard Benningfield, Ginny Wright, and Juanita Beauchamp.

Memorials are suggested to the Shirrell Cemetery Fund, which can be made at the funeral home.
