Herbert Coomer, 85, Cane Valley, KY (1929-2015)

Mr. Coomer was a member of the House Upon a Rock Church and was a retired overhead crane operator for General Motors in Springfield, Illinois He was a native of Chance, Adair County, KY, and a resident of Cane Valley, Adair County, KY, at the time of his death. He was the son of the late Dan and Lula Turner Coomer. His wife of 56 years, Lula Mae Hulse Coomer, survives. He leaves 14 direct living descendants

Herbert Coomer 85 of the Cane Valley Community of Adair County, KY passed away Sunday, July 5, 2015 at 6:34 am at the Golden Living Center in Greensburg, KY after several months illness.

Funeral service will be Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 1pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Kerry Yates the officiating clergy. Interment in the Fudge Cemetery, 847 Independence Ridge Road, at Breeding, KY. The family request visitation after 4pmCT, on Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.



Pallbearers: Jonathan Dabney, William Dabney, Terry Dabney, Robert Taylor, Justice Taylor, Marcus Reynolds, Everett Rudolph Estes.


Herbert Coomer, 85, Cane Valley, KY (1929-2015)

He was born in Chance, KY on September 6, 1929. He was the son of the late Dan and Lula Turner Coomer. He died Sunday, July 5, 2015, in Greensburg, Green County, KY, at the age of 85 years, nine months, and 29 days.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Vanus Coomer; and two sisters, Annie Mae Petty and Dorothy Pelston.

Mr. Coomer is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lola Mae Hulse Coomer, of Cane Valley, KY, and the following:
  • Two daughters: Annie Coomer of Columbia, KY; and Bertha Dabney and husband Terry of Watertown, TN.

  • One son: Stanley Coomer and wife, Mary Margaret of Campbellsville, KY

  • One brother: Floyd Coomer of Palos Heights, IL

  • Two sisters: Vanola Estes and Edith Gowen, both of Louisville, KY.

  • Five grandchildren: Loni Coomer, Michaela Taylor, Candice Taylor, Robert Taylor, and William Dabney

  • Six great grandchildren

  • Several nieces and nephews and a host of friends
