Ida Mae Wheeler, Adair Co., KY (1932-2015)

She was the matriarch of a prominent South Adair County, KY, family. She was the daughter of the late George William and Nancy Guinie Morrison Loy, and the widow of Jay Wheeler. She leaves 44 direct living descendants. Mrs. Wheeler was retired from Fruit of the Loom & was a homemaker.

Ida Mae Wheeler age 82 years of the Chance community passed away Thursday, June 11, 2015 at 4:16amCT, at her daughter's home in Mannsville, KY. in Taylor County. KY.

Services will be private.



Ida Mae Wheeler, Adair Co., KY (1932-2015)


She was born on October 13, 1932 at Chance, Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late George William and Nancy Guinie Morrison Loy. She died Thursday, June 11, 2015, in Mannsville, Taylor County, KY, at the age of 82 years, seven months, and 29 days.

The widow of Jay Wheeler who preceded her in death on December 31, 2009. She was also preceded death one son, James Eldith Wheeler; four brothers: Charlie Edgar Loy, George Loy, Jr., James E. "Yank" Loy and William B. Loy; Four sisters: Dorothy Marie Campbell, Doris Loy, Steller Reliford, and Nannie Myrtle Reliford.

She is survived by the following:
  • Seven daughters: Linda Hendrickson and husband J. W. of Columbia, KY; Connie Wheeler of Columbia, KY; Phyllis McHam & spouse Kerry Kearney of Columbia, KY; Patricia Wheeler of Columbia, KY; Diane Hatcher & husband Doug of Columbia, KY; Sandy Wheeler of Columbia, KY; and Jeannie Cox & husband Kerry of Mannsville, KY

  • One son: Donnie J. Wheeler of Chance, KY

  • One sister: Dellar Cheatham of Chance, KY

  • Fifteen grandchildren

  • Twenty-one great grandchildren>

  • Several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives & friends survive.
Mrs. Wheeler was retired from Fruit of the Loom & was a homemaker In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy are suggested to take the form of a donation to the Adair County Food Pantry for needy children & families and may be made at the funeral home.
