Lillian Frances Ballard Cooksey, 85, Burkesville, KY (1929-2015)

She was of Methodist faith, attended Marrowbone United Methodist Church and was an Inspector for R. C. A. Corporation, Bob Evans Manufacturing and Sutton Shirt Corporation. She was a native of Cumberland County, KY, a resident of the county the time of her death, and her final resting place will be in Dutch Creek Cemetery in the county of her birth. She was the daughter of the late Bob Daniel "Buss" & Evie Frances Firkins Ballard. She leaves 21 direct living descendants.

Mrs. Lillian Frances Ballard Cooksey, age 85, of Burkesville, KY, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at the Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville, KY.

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at 3pmCT, in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home, 601 N Main Street, Burkesville, KY. Burial will be in the Dutch Creek Cemetery in Cumberland County, KY. The family will receive friends after 5pmCT, on Saturday, June 6, 2015 until the funeral hour on Sunday.

Mrs. Lillian Frances Ballard Cooksey, Burkesville, KY, was born in Cumberland County, Kentucky on Saturday, October 12, 1929, the daughter of Bob Daniel "Buss" and Evie Frances Firkins Ballard. She died on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at the Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville, KY, at the age of 85 years, seven months, and 23 days.

She was of Methodist faith, attended Marrowbone United Methodist Church and was an Inspector for R. C. A. Corporation, Bob Evans Manufacturing and Sutton Shirt Corporation.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Charlie Ballard, Irvin Ballard, James Paul Ballard, Henry Ballard and her sisters, Polly Anderson and Annie Mae Smith.

She is survived by the following:
  • Her sons: Johnny Ray (and Diane) Cooksey, Bobby Joe (and Sharon) Cooksey, all of Indianapolis, IN

  • Her daughter: Carolyn (and Billy) Key of Burkesville, KY

  • Her brother: Daniel Ballard of Greenwood, IN

  • Her grandchildren: Debbie Sue Garhartt, Robert Dishman, Denise Cooksey, Jared Cooksey, Chris Cooksey

  • Twelve great-grandchildren

  • One great-great-grandson

  • Special friend: Rick Clark of Clarksville, TN
