KSP investigating officer involved shooting in Bardstown, KY

Officers were in pursuit of a stolen vehicle; witnesses say fleeing suspect repeatedly rammed law enforcement vehicles and allege he was trying to run over officers

Kentucky State Police Post 4, Elizabethtown

BARDSTOWN, KY - Kentucky State Police Post 4 in Elizabethtown is investigating an Officer involved shooting that occurred in the Parkway Drive area of Bardstown this morning.

On Sunday, May 10, 2015 at approximately 9amET, Officers from the Bardstown Police Department and the Nelson County Sheriff's Department were involved in a pursuit of a stolen vehicle where witnesses stated the suspect was ramming Police cruisers and trying to run over officers.



The suspect was airlifted to University Of Louisville Hospital and his condition is unknown at this time.

The Officers involved sustained minor injuries and will be placed on Administrative leave consistent with policy and procedures of each respective department.

KSP is the lead investigating agency and will hold a joint press conference with the Bardstown Police Dept. and the Nelson Co. Sheriff's Office tomorrow at 10:00 A.M. EST at the Bardstown Police Dept. The investigation is still in preliminary stages and no further information will be released at this time.
