She was the widow of Austin Karnes, and a member of a highly regarded family. She leaves 34 direct living descendants. She was a homemaker.

Nancy Karnes, 73 years of Columbia, KY passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at 4:44pmCT, at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, KY after several weeks illness.

Funeral services will be Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 1pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Darrell Karnes the officiating clergy. Interment in the Columbia Cemetery, 315 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY. The family requests visiting after 1:30pmCT, on Friday, May 8, 2015, at the funeral home.

She was born Tuesday, December 30, 1941 in Celina, Clay County, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Edison and Ora Willis Spears of Cumberland County, KY. She died Tuesday, May 5, 2015, in Elizabethtown, Hardin County, KY, at the age of 73 years, four months, and five days.

She was preceded in death by her husband; Austin Karnes in March 2010 and by one infant son Austin Carl Karnes on July 8, 1964.

She is survived by the following:
  • Three daughters: Elizabeth Spears and husband, Larry of Burkesville, KY; Donna Voris and husband Victor of Burkesville, KY; and Tonya Ballou and Glenn Benham of Brandenburg, KY

  • Two sons: Eddie Grissom and wife Donna of Upton, KY; and Justin Karnes and wife Candy of Columbia, KY

  • One brother: Stanley Spears of Indianapolis, IN

  • Fourteen grandchildren

  • Fifteen great grandchildren

  • A very special niece: Shirley Long of Burkesville, KY

  • A very special friend and sister in law: Wanda Karnes of Columbia, KY

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
Mrs. Karnes was a homemaker.
