Laris (Ray) Parton, age 75, Casey Co., KY (1940-2015)

Laris "Ray" Parton of Liberty, KY passed away Thursday, March 26, 2015 at the V.A. Medical Center in Lexington, KY. He was 75.

Funeral services are 1pmCT/2pmET, Sunday, March 29, 2015 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY, with Bro. Creech Richardson officiating. Laris "Ray Parton will be laid to rest in Valley Oak Cemetery with military honors by Caswell Saufley Post 18. Visitation is 4pm-8pmCT/5pm-9pmET, Saturday, March 28, 2015, at the funeral home.



Pallbearers are Roger Parton, Edward Parton, David Parton, Johnny Richardson, Tim Wood, and Steve Wood. Honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren.

Born February 19, 1940 in Casey County, KY, he was the son of the late Clarence and Emily Wall Parton. He died Thursday, March 26, 2015, in Lexington Fayette County, KY, at the age of 75, one month, and seven days.

He was a factory worker and Army veteran. Laris " Ray" liked to watch sports and western movies.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Irma Wood Parton, whom he married June 14, 1969, and the following:
  • A son: Laris Randall (and Marsha) Parton of Liberty, KY

  • A daughter: Susan (and Chad) Patterson of Hustonville, KY

  • Four grandchildren: Dalton and Emmalee Patterson and Ean and Claire Parton

  • Step-mother: Jewell Parton of Liberty, KY

  • Brothers: Edward (and Wanda) Parton of Jamestown, KY; and David (and Christy) Parton of Liberty, KY

  • Three sisters: Deloris (and Ben) Smith of Tennessee; Mildred (and Gary) Southerland of Texas; and Patsy (and Don) Chappell of Liberty, KY
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, John Parton; and two sisters, Jeanette Thomas and Judy Wheeler.
