He was a native of Cumberland County, KY, the son of the late Roy & Ocie Opal Edens Spears. His wife, Donna Mae Spears, survives. He leaves 37 direct living descendants. He died Thursday, March 5, 2015, in Burkesville, Cumberland Co., KY, at the age of 84 years, six months, and 22 days. He was a member of Hope Baptist Church in Indianapolis, IN, and a retired construction worker for Mcferran Kane Company in Indianapolis. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Vertie Willis Spears in 1982, two children, Willie J. Spears, and Patty Lou Spears, and one grandson, David Padgett,II.
