Pearsetta Cowan, 91, Adair County, KY (1923-2015)

She was the matriarch of a highly regarded Adair County, KY, family. She was a member of Charity Baptist Church, a homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was the daughter of the late Hector and Annie Lizzie Bryant Burton. She was the widow of Ira Cowan. She leaves 15 direct living descendants.

Pearsetta Cowan, 91, of Columbia, died Sunday, January 18, 2015 at 5:09 A.M. at Westlake Regional Hospital, Columbia, KY.

Funeral service wil be Friday, January 23, 2015 at 2pmCT. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY with Bro. Troy Long and George Rice officiating. Visitation starts after 4pmCT, Thursday, January 22, 2015. Burial will be in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Casket Bearers: Jamie Cowan, Timmy Cowan, Jacob Cowan, Blake Cowan, LaTashua Moore, Katelyn Moore.



Pearsetta Cowan, 91, Adair County, KY (1923-2015)

She was born January 27, 1923 in Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Hector and Annie Lizzie Bryant Burton. She died Sunday, January 18, 2015 in Coumbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 91 years, 11 months, and 22 days.

She was a member of Charity Baptist Church, a homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Cowan in 2009, a daughter, Sharlene Cowan in 1975, two sons, Kenneth & Harold Cowan in infancy, two sisters, Ethel Lou Cowan & Mary Lee Coffey and six brothers, Ivan, Aden, Loy, Wilmer, Orlin and Paul Burton.

Survivors include:

  • Two sons: Winfred Cowan and Eugene (Carol) Cowan both of Columbia, KY

  • Special daughter-in-law: Janet Cowan Antle of Columbia, KY

  • Four grandchildren, including a special granddaughter; Telissa (Brad) Moore, Denesa (Kelly) McCann, Jamie (Gale) Cowan, Timmy (Lisa) Cowan

  • Nine great-grandchildren: LaTashua Moore, Austen McCann, Jacob Cowan, Blake Cowan, Katelyn Moore, Karli Cowan, Brady Cowan, Beth Ann Cowan and Brent Moore

  • Special caregivers: Doris Hadley, Doris Burton, Pat Crook, Lee Curry, Sharon Austin and several other throughout the years.
