Margaret Altman, Green Co., KY (1919-2015)

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Summersville Baptist Church. She was a retired teacher having taught for 44 years. She began her early career teaching in one room schools of Green County, and in her later years taught at the Summersville and Greensburg Schools. She was a member of the Retired Teacher's Association, and the Summersville Baptist Church Missionary Group. She united in marriage to Edwin Milton Altman on February 19, 1938 who preceded her in death on March 3, 2002.

Mrs. Margaret Altman of Greensburg, Kentucky, daughter of the late Hubert Coakley and Lillie Henderson Coakley, was born on March 18, 1919 in Green County, Kentucky, and departed this life on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital. She was 95 years, 9 months, and 27 days of age.

The funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Altman will be conducted at 1pmCT, Sunday, January 18, 2015 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Bro. Nathan Crawford will be officiating. Visitation is requested from 4pmCT until 8pmCT, Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY and after 7amCta, Sunday until time of the funeral service.

She was 95 years, nine months, and 27 days of age.

Survivors include:
  • Four nieces and their spouses: Marsha Coakley Priddy and Dewayne Priddy, Julie Coakley, Cathy Wade Ridge and Tim Ridge all of Louisivlle, KY, and Mae Deline Hays of Glasgow, KY

  • Four great-nieces: Sara Woodford, Bo Strange, Jenny Jackson, and Dr. Erin Priddy Wright all of Louisville, KY

  • Two great-nephews: James Bruce Hays and Charles Anthony Hays

  • A great-great nephew

  • And a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorials are suggested to the Summersville Baptist Church, which can be made at the funeral home.
