Charlene Hancock Taylor, Adair County, KY (1935-2015)

She was a member of a large, highly regarded Adair County, KY, family. She a native of Wayne County, KY, and a resident of Adair County, KY, at the time of her death. She was the daughter of he late Loren E. and Glenna (Hancock) Hancock, and he widow of Alex Richard Taylor. was a member of Beulah Chapel Brethren in Christ Church. She worked at Westlake Regional Hospital for 20 years. She enjoyed reading her Bible, going to church, gardening and spending time with her family. She leaves 26 direct living descendants.

Charlene Hancock Taylor, 79, of Columbia, died Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at 5:58amCT, at the Westlake Regional Hospital, Columbia, KY, after a long illness.

Funeral service will be Friday, January 16, 2015 at 1pmCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Clifton Bennett and Bro. Gerald Hancock officiating Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation after 2pmCT, Thursday, January 15, 2015, at the funeral home.

Charlene Hancock Taylor, Adair County, KY (1935-2015)

She was born January 27, 1935, in Wayne County, KY, to the late Loren E. and Glenna (Hancock) Hancock. She died Tuesday, January 13, 2015 in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 79 years, 11 months, and 17 days.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alex Richard Taylor on September 9, 1993; one son, Jerry Coffey on June 29, 2013; one great-granddaughter, Reagan Brock; one brother, Edgar Hancock; and two sisters, Jewell Law and Geneva Hancock.

She was a member of Beulah Chapel Brethren in Christ Church. She worked at Westlake Regional Hospital for 20 years. She enjoyed reading her Bible, going to church, gardening and spending time with her family. Survivors include:
  • Three sons: Gary (Ruth) Lane of Brodhead, Ricky (Donna) Taylor & Billy Darin (Sheila) Taylor all of Columbia, KY

  • One daughter: Jean (David) Bryant of Columbia, KY

  • Five brothers : Oral Hancock of Columbia, KY; Gerald (Martha Sue) Hancock of Columbus, IN, Jay Reed (Nancy) Hancock of Washington, DC; Jeff (Patricia) Hancock of Russell Springs, Ronnie (Dannette) Hancock of Columbia, KY

  • Three sisters : Vera (Starlin) Burris of Columbus, IN, Betty (Leamon) Burton of Hope, IN, Carolyn Sue (Rick) Perry of Flora, IL

  • A daughter-in-law: Joanne Coffey of Columbia, KY

  • A sister-in-law: Rosella Hancock of Columbia, KY

  • Ten grandchildren: Jennifer (Ray) Brock, Mindy (Kevin) Yarberry, Jeremy Lane, Kelly Tyree, Stephanie (Justin) Ford, Justin (Amanda) Taylor, Chris (Kelly) Bryant, Brandon (Tonya) Bryant, Josh Taylor and Jonathan Bryant

  • Twelve great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
