Mary Magdalene Coomer, Adair County, KY (1929-2014)

She was a native of Adair County, KY and a resident of the county at the time of her death. She was the matriarch of a stalwart South Adair County, KY, family. She was the daughter of the late Jessie Allen & Etter Burbridge Morrison and the widow of Coy Coomer. She leaves 13 direct living descendants. She was a member of Emory Chapel United Methodist Church, had worked OshKosh B'Gosh and was a homemaker.

Mary Magdalene Coomer age 85 years of the Chance community of Adair County, KY passed away Tuesday December 23, 2014 at 6:40amCT, at her home.

Funeral service will be Friday, December 26, 2014 at 1pmCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY with Bro. Bobby Withers the officiating clergy. Interment in Antioch Cemetery, 3422 Wheeler Hill Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation after 5pmCT, Thursday, December 26, 2014.

She was born on Monday, December 16, 1929 in Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Jessie Allen & Etter Burbridge Morrison. She died Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at Chance, Adair County, KY, at the age of 85 years, 7 days.

The widow of Coy O. Coomer who preceded her in death on October 25, 2006. She was preceded in death by one infant Dennis Odell Coomer in 1952 and one brother Rufus Morrison.

She is survived by the following:
  • One daughter: Janice (Glyn) England of Columbia, KY

  • One son: Ricky (Karron) Coomer of Marrowbone, KY

  • One sister: Audra (Bobby) Watson of Columbia, KY

  • Grandchildren: Michael and Sherry Norris and Tammy and Greg Pruitt.

  • Seven great grandchildren

  • Several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends
